MODChic Pre-launch show

The MODChic pre-launch show was elegant; it had this simple yet couture finesse that was so mesmerizing. I loved the dresses the most; it was flair, sassy and had this “I can wear it anywhere” factor like to a cocktail party, lounge or wedding. The pants were so fashionable; you can dress it up with dress shirts or top.

The designer of the line is Ebele; she has been making pieces for friends for the past 6yrs. She decided to take her passion for fashion to a higher level by having a collection. One thing that caught my attention when I saw her before talking to her was her ruffled collared top. It was well put together with her pants and shoes-very chic. Overall, the pre-launch was amazing; 10% discount was given in addition to the lowered prices of the clothes, appetizers were yum especially the cake and gift bags were given at the end of the event.

Happy Hour

It’s a Wednesday evening and the best place to be for Happy Hour is Scott Gertner’s Sports Bar. This place is the urban version of hooters and the décor is amazing with plasma TVs around there is no bad spot to sit to watch a game. On a Wednesday they have a 25cent wing night, the wings are great. The martinis and cocktails are so good but really strong because after one glass you get the buzz. I noticed you had to pay about $10 to park in front and $5 at the back, in my opinion this was just right because I mean if you lived in Toronto, you have to look for parking and minimum is $10. Overall, I loved the place: good music (old school hip hop), nice crowd and tasty wings.

Prada L’Eau Ambree-New Fragrance for women exclusively at Neiman Marcus

L’Eau Ambree was developed by perfumer Daniela Andrier. It combines an intricate and fresh approach to the balancing of the notes of cedrat, rose de mai, and amber. The Sicilian citrus top note of cedrat is refreshing yet rich, giving an unexpected grace and balance to the fragrance. At the heart of the fragrance is rose de mai. Buttery, light, and above all sensual, it is the essence of femininity. The base notes consists of an evocative ambery dry down based on patchouli, vanilla and opoponax (Description from Neiman  Marcus website).

Dsquared

Born in Canada, made in Italy, living on here!!!with Dsquared,Canadian-bred,Milan-based designers Dean and Dan Caten are injecting the fashion world with their infectious, fun and oh-so cool approach to style.

"Nobody feels like they're working at our shows. When it ceases to be fun, it's over for us," says Dan Caten, one half of design duo Dsquared. That approach is reflected in the sensational catwalk shows associated with the Canadian label he runs with twin Dean, where sleek, sexy designs are sent down the runway against backdrop themes such as the Wild West and Equestrian England. And it's one which has earned them an enviable celebrity client list, ranging from Madonna and Christina Aguilera to Justin Timberlake and R&B talent Rihanna.

Born on December 19, 1965, to an Italian welder father and English mother, Dean and Dan Catenacci, as their surname was then, grew up in Willowdale, Ontario. The youngest of nine children, they found early inspiration in female family members. "I think growing up with five sisters has had a big influence on us," remembers Dan. "(They) were a lot older than us… and there was always somebody shopping for a prom dress." The boys were also surrounded by the culture of their Italian roots, which eventually led to them to choose Milan as the home for their first flagship store, which opened in 2007.

Two years on and Dsquared had launched their first womenswear collection, gaining further showbiz fans along the way, including Lenny Kravitz and supermodel Naomi Campbell, who fronted their 2004 autumn ad campaign. The discovery that their birthday falls the day after Christina Aguilera's strengthened their celebrity links. The chanteuse made a special guest appearance at their spring 2005 shows - the year they made it big in Milan.

"I don't think they saw us coming," Dan says. "Milan wasn't ready for Dsquared and by the time they noticed, we'd already arrived. We just keep doing what comes naturally."

Other music makers soon got in on the act. Singer Justin Timberlake wore head to toe Dsquared to pick up a clutch of gongs at the MTV awards in 2007, while the brothers called on R&B sensation Rihanna to head up their ready-to-wear show in Milan that same year.
